Data Center Facilities Engineer

Permanent position: Data Center Facilities Engineer Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands (on site) - Near Schiphol Airport Start date: ASAP Salary: €40,000 - €48,000 + 20% shift allowance + €250 month car allowance + Phone Reference: 17344 Working hours: Approx shifts - 24x7 - operating on a 2 x days (6am-2pm), 2 x mid (2pm - 10pm) and 2 x Late (10pm -6am). Then have 3.5 days off on a continuous rotation. Opportunity for experienced Data Center Facilities Engineers to be responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency. This involves both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues. The Data Center Facilities Engineer serves as a technical resource reporting to the Data Center Site Manager and third-party vendors. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical Servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, standby diesel generators, switchgear, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems. *This position will be on a 3-shift pattern including night shifts.* Primary Duties:

• Develops creative approaches to keep operational costs to a minimum, improve efficiency, and implements new strategies for Mechanical, Electrical, and Fire Life Safety systems.
• Tests performance of electromechanical assemblies and electronic volt meters.
• Reads blueprints, schematics, diagrams, or technical orders to determine methods and sequences of processes.
• Inspects equipment for defects, leaks, and potential issues.
• Installs electrical/electronic parts and hardware in housings/assemblies with hand tools.
• Aligns, fits or assembles component parts using hand/power tools.
• Operates, monitors, maintains, and responds to abnormal conditions in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Life Safety, Security Systems, Building Monitoring Systems, and control systems.
• Analyze systems to ensure best practice for internal/external customers.
• Provides feedback on effectiveness of existing standards and processes.
• Works with contractors and consultants to review quality assurance for all system expansions, corrections, and upgrades.
• Collaborates on the tracking and completing aggressive preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Collaborates on determining maintenance requirements for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire life safety systems, and security systems.
• Complete planned and ad-hoc preventive maintenance work assignments
• Conduct periodic inspections of building systems, ie, HVAC, electrical distribution, maintain mechanical equipment rooms to ensure clean and safe conditions.
• Have a complete working knowledge of creating, closing, and tracking "work requests" (WR). Initiate or respond to work orders, follow-up and verify completion of work.
• Monitor performance/note deficiencies of service contractors and recommend changes as necessary.
• Completion of documentation, notification, escalation, tracking and follow up of all incidents and requests.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in the operation, installation, and maintenance of data center critical equipment, building systems with in-depth technical understanding and knowledge of all HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and control systems.
• Knowledge of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment, including Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, Chillers, Air handling units, CRAC units and building management systems (BMS)
• Ability to write and review operational documents such as SOPs, MOPs, EOPs
• MBO 2
• LV/HV authorized to switch Certificate (NEN3140-NEN3840)
• Mechanical and/or Electrical training/education, with particular focus in power;
• Must have or be able to complete Safety for Operational Supervisors training (Dutch: "Veiligheid gezondheid milieu Checklist Aannemers" Abbreviation: "VCA") and OSHA 30 shortly after start of employment.
• Relevant work experience in a data center or other critical environment.
• High school diploma or College Degree
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English and ideally Dutch aswell.

The role is a Full time position and based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and will include business travel as needed to meet business demands but will likely be nominal.
